Abby is growing before our very eyes!! Yesterday we were at my sister-in-law''s house (April) and Abby smiled spontaneously for the first time!! I wasn''t sure in times past (could have been gas or dreaming), but this was the real deal!!
Abby is starting to want to play when she is awake. She is interested in playing with objects withing her reach. Her bouncy seat is set up for her to kick things with her feet and she wasn''t quite interested in that. April had a bouncy where she could use her hands and she was having so much fun. She played for about 20 minutes by herself!! April gave me the bouncy to "test out" (until the twins are here) to see if Abby continues loving it and then we can get one of our own. Abby is lifting her head during tummy time. Not 90 degrees yet, but she is working on it (she does when she is on our chest). She loves looking at herself in the mirror too. I wonder what she thinks when she sees herself....
Grandma and Grandpa Zolad are coming for the whole long weekend!! We can''t wait for them to spend time with Abby and see how much she has changed. We will take lots of pictures and post them on the "Family Ties" photo album.
What a wonderful Mother''s Day weekend!! It could have been a little nicer outside :(
We celebrated our Mother''s Day on Saturday since we planned on going to my parent''s on Sunday. Mike took Abby after her 5:00am feeding and I slept for 3 hours in a row!!! How rejuvinated you feel after some solid sleep. I woke up to my baby (still sleeping) and breakfast. Mike had gotten a braclet for me before Abby was born and had her name and birthdate engraved on it for my gift from Abby. We also introduced a bottle this weekend and Abby took to it really well. I was afraid she would be confused between the bottle and me, but she is doing well with the transition.
We went to Target for our excursion for the day and then we went to Don Pablo''s for dinner. Abby slept the whole time and Mike and I had a nice dinner and it was nice to sit and talk.
On Sunday, I got breakfast cooked for me again and then it was off to grandma and grandpa Christensen''s. It was our first "long" trip (an hour and a half) and she did awesome!! Grandpa hadn''t seen her for 2 weeks, so he was dying to hold her!! Of course grandma and auntie Ali had their fair share of holding her too. We had a wonderful lunch and then headed over to my grandma''s (great grandma Alice) for her to meet Abby for the first time. Grandma immediately held her and said "don''t worry Leah, I''ve done this before" (I have 8 aunts and uncles).
After a long weekend, we are all exhausted, so hopefully we will all get a good night sleep (cross your fingers) :)
Abby is 3 weeks today and is growing like a weed! I see it mostly in her cheeks!
We both say almost everyday that she looks different.
Abby is starting to see objects a little further away and more clearly. She is very interested in color contrasts (dark on light colors). Lights are also a big thing. Today I put these little bug stuffed toys on her car seat and she stared at them the whole time we were at the grocery store.
Mike and I are starting to feel more and more comfortable as parents each day. We are getting to know her cries and noises for what means what. A wailing cry means that she is tired (usually lasts 2 minutes and then she is out), big grunts are gas and little grunts means that she is hungry.
It has been very 50/50 and we are working as a team as much as possible. I couldn''t imagine being a single parent!!
